Pollution in China

what would be a reason for the Chinese government to manipulate and mask the results rather than publicize the hazardous pollution? what would be a reasonable action to lower the pollution?

What is a fine particle? what are the dangers of  fine particles?

  1. 1. Since China is pseudo-communist, the government is the primary beneficiary of production. As the equivalent of an American corporation, it is thus to their advantage to keep operating costs low and profit margins high. It just so happens that that means environmental degradation and public health hazards. But, because of the government's biased position, neither of these things are actually its primary concern. It just isn't practical for the government to be expected to make a fine balance of all of the people's interests, and the latter two do not make any capital for the government. It's like if Apple ran the United States.
    2. Fine particles are heavy compounds that are small enough to become suspended in the air, but are solid and so are deposited on the skin and the surface of the lungs, where they are hazardous in the same way as many of the components of cigarette smoke. The risks can be posed by such factors as acidity/alkalinity, heavy metals, and loss of lung capacity.

  2. 1. The government masks the results because the cost to actually fix the problem is higher than what they are willing to spend. They would rather hide the problem and let peoples health be at risk than actually fix it and spend all the money it gets from the U.S. A reasonable solution would be to perhaps limit the amount of cars and increase public transportation. The Chinese government limited the number of children a woman could have, why not limit the number of cars?

    2. Fine particles are small particles that come form combustion mostly power plants and vehicles. These particles are small enough to get into the lungs and blood stream which causes respiratory and cardiovascular disease even in small concentrations.

  3. 1.i guess that the reasons the chinese government covers up all this pollution would be (in my opinion) to keep moving forward, and to keep growing and not to get stuck and kept behind due to the fact of the severe pollution of fine particles in the air. A reasonable solution would be to consider changing the way the government works, and try to use different ways of reducing the make of the pollution.

2.fine particles are very hazardous particles of pollution, that are not visible to the human eye, and they do more damage than a pollution particle that is visible. Fine particles cause health problems and possibly lung cancer.

  4. 1. What would be a reason for the Chinese government to manipulate and mask the results rather than publicize the hazardous pollution? What would be a reasonable action to lower the pollution?
A reason for the Chinese government to manipulate and mask the results is that the cost to fix the problem is more than what they are willing to spend, so they would rather just hide the problem, even though it could seriously risk people's health, instead of spending the money necessary to fix it. A reasonable action to lower population could be increasing public transportation, and therefore put big restrictions on the amount of private driving allowed.

    2. What is a fine particle? what are the dangers of fine particles?
A fine particle is a small particle that comes from the combustion of things such as vehicles or power plants. Because they are so small, they can get into the lungs or blood stream and cause numerous health problems, such as lung cancer.

  5. 1. The government would rather mask the results than publicize the hazardous pollution because they are more interested in making and saving money than the general health of the population unless it causes serious issues. Because there is no huge effect of the pollution at the moment such as mass death and injury, the government is able to go by without making huge changes to intervene in the sources of the pollution, and they will not do so until they are threatened to take action, and are forced to spend money to lower the pollution levels. A reasonable action to lower the pollution could be to promote public transportation and also possibly to promote more green techniques in power plants to help them reduce their pollution.

    2. Fine particles are basically what make up pollution, and they usually come from combustion through cars and power plants. They are dangerous because they are very small, and can therefore make their way into the lungs and blood and cause health issues even with just a small amount.

  6. 1. A reason for the Chinese government to mask air pollution instead of publicizing it is because they do not want people to realize the extensive amounts of money that would have to go in to making less pollution. New forms of energy would need to be used but the government would rather not spend that much money, and instead risk people and the environments health. A potential way to help ease the problem would be to come up with more means of public transportation therefore reducing the number of carcinogens and toxins that are released in to te air.

    2. A fine particle is a particle that is formed after the process of combustion occurs from a place such as a power plant or an object such as a vehicle. Fine particles are extremely small and therefore they have the ability to easily get in to the bloodstream or lungs and cause respiratory problems and lung cancer. Even when they are only concentrated in those areas at small amounts they can have largely hazardous effects.

  7. 1. What would be a reason for the Chinese government to manipulate and mask the results rather than publicize the hazardous pollution? What would be a reasonable action to lower the pollution?
I believe that the Chinese government would manipulate and mask the results of the hazardous pollution because they do not want to deal with the financial costs it would take to make the changes for minimizing the pollution. A way that the Chinese could help minimize the pollution in the ecosystem would be to use public transportation instead of each person using a car. Also, having the numerous plants in China find eco-friendly ways to minimize the pollution that they put out.

    2. What is a fine particle? what are the dangers of fine particles?
A fine particle is primarily from combustion, including from motor vehicles and power plants and measures in a very small size. The dangers of the fine particles is that the particle is "so small that it can get into the lungs and blood and cause respiratory and cardiovascular morbidity and mortality even at very low concentrations."

  8. 1. China wouldn't want to publicize the dangerous pollution because of the pressure it would place on the government to make costly improvements in order to reduce the pollution. The government as well as individual companies should improve their factories' energy consumption in order to make it more "eco-friendly." It would also be important to reduce vehicle use, similar to the methods used in Bejing to reduce the pollution before the olympics.
    2. A fine particle is a product of combustion; it is very small, and therefore easy to be inhaled and absorbed into the blood stream, causing lung and heart problems.
THIS IS ASHLEY SWISHER ON JUSTIN"S ACCOUNT :)

  9. 1. China would be the recipient of the production. The Chinese government would want to mask air pollution instead of spreading worry and confusion would be because they do not want peple to realize the cost of not only fixing the current problem, but also to stop the pollution that has been created and released. New forms of green technology would have to be used by not only the government but the people as well. They Chinese government would want to avoid this by not spending extensive amounts of money on the problem. A way that the government could help to stop the problem could be to create more transportation infrastructure and therefore reduce the number of carcinogens that are released into the environment.

    2. Fine particles are what make up pollution and come fr2. om the ignition and eventual combustion and explosion of particles through cars and power plants. The particles are very dangerous because they are not only extremely small, but therefore can make their way into the blood and lungs much easier and cause health issues with small doses. They can lead to the same effects of smoking and other cancer causing activities.

  10. 1. The government chooses to mask these results because the cost to make it safe and non hazardous for people is more than they would be willing to spend. A way to improve the circumstances would be to have more means of transportation so that the number of carcinogens released into the environment would be much lower.
    2. Fine particles come from combustion and are very small, therefore making them very dangerous. They are easy to be inhaled and cause health problems.

  11. 1. If China were to acknowledge this as a problem, they would be the ones who have to deal the problem. Since China is not super enthusiastic about social programs, its easy to see why they'd ignore it.
    2. They are small 'fine' particles that are the result of combustion, such as that from factories, which are extremely dangerous to breathe, and they have been linked to numerous health problems.

  12. 1. what would be a reason for the Chinese government to manipulate and mask the results rather than publicize the hazardous pollution? what would be a reasonable action to lower the pollution?
The reason that the Chinese government were to manipulate and mask the results is because that would then lead them to be the ones that would have to deal with the problem, and they most likely do not have the means (income) necessary to deal with this problem.

    2. What is a fine particle? what are the dangers of fine particles?
Fine particles are very small dangerous particles that are a result of combustion. The dangers of these particles are that they are so small that they are easy for people to inhale which then cause dangerous health problems.

  13. 1. The government decides to change the results because if the real results were to be published, they would have to deal with the problem. This is too big of a cost and they would rather not do that. A solution to this problem could possibly be the government limiting the pollution of large industry and even the number of cars or the types of cars that can be driven.

    2. Fine particles are small particles that are the result of combustion. When inhaled they cause many health problems which is why they are so dangerous.

  14. 1. If the chinese government were to acknowledge the truth of this issue they would then have to deal with it. Since the Chinese government is not keen on such programs and do not see them as economically beneficial. China not only don't have the income of resources to deal with this problem but it is not their biggest so there fore it is probably be shoved aside. Some alternatives actions are NGO's, international influence and simply trying to find ways to cut carbon emission while dealing with other issues.

    2. Fine particles are veery smal particles that come from combustion. The main danger is that is tis so small they are easy for humans to inhale which then becomes dangerous to the human respitory system,

  15. 1. I think the government of China would want to mask and manipulate the results because they don't want to deal with the consequences of publishing the real results. Were the public to realize how much pollution there is, they would want something to be done about it, and the Chinese government wouldn't want to spend their resources on it. A solution to the problem could be the government preventing new pollution from forming rather than spending resources on eliminating the existing pollution.

    2. A fine particle is a microscopic particle that is a result of combustion from large plants. Fine particles are made up of dangerous compounds, and because of their size, they can easily enter and affect humans and cause adverse health effects.

    ReplyDelete
  16. 1.) I think the government of China would change or skew the results because of the fact that they know they're emitting much more than they're supposed to. If they were to release the real results then there would be bigger issues and China knows that it couldn't get involved in that.

2.) A fine particle is a extremely small particle that happens when plants combust. What happens is that since they are made up of toxic compounds, their small size enters into the human system, and ultimately causes horrible effects.

  17. 1. The reason the government would change results would be to make it seem as though china is a lot greener than they actually are. This would make it so they do not have to go under the protocol of other countries and took off pressure to change. A solution for this could be simply redoing their protocol for the businesses in the country and limit their carbon.
    2. . Fine particles are very small particles that come from combustion of certain items. The main danger is that is these particles are inhaled by humans and are very harmful for the reserpitory system.

  18. 1. A reason for the Chinese government to manipulate and mask the results rather than publicize the hazardous pollution would be because once the government noticed the pollution problem, attention would rise and they would have to deal with it.If and once the government dealt with the problem a reasonable action to lower the pollution would be to make something like transportation friendly to the environment.

    2. A fine particle is a very small particle of matter that is released from a certain substance. Dangers of fine particles would be having serious health problems from inhaling them.

  19. 1. a reason the Chinese government would manufacture results would be to possibly keep the people from panicking and freaking out. If people heard they were likely to die from terrible pollution they would be less likely to be complacent to a corrupt, dangerous government without freedoms. The government does not want to lose its power and control and the best way to keep it is to keep the people calm and happy. A reasonable way to stop pollution would be to cut back on coal consumption and look to different alternative power sources that pollute less.
2.A fine particle is a particle smaller than 10 micron, which is very very small. The particles are so small they can enter the blood and lungs and cause death even at small amounts. They can cause serious cardiovascular problems.

  20. 1. The Chinese government would alter the results in order to make their country seem more environmentally friendly. They would do this in order to lower future costs in relation to green energy, as well as allowing themselves to continue utilizing the same practices as they always have.
    2. Fine particles are particles produced and released by combustion, and are the primary substance of the pollution in China. They are so dangerous because they are small enough to be easily inhaled, and thus are able to cause severe health issues.

  21. 1. what would be a reason for the Chinese government to manipulate and mask the results rather than publicize the hazardous pollution? what would be a reasonable action to lower the pollution?

The Chinese government would manipulate pollution information to make the country appear better to both outsiders and insiders. If tourists think that China is full of dangerous chemicals, they probably won't want to visit. If citizens of China know the full extent of the hazardous pollutions in their vicinity, they might take anti-government actions. They would be able to rally most of the population against the system as it currently works, because it doesn't matter if you're rich or poor, a baker or a factory worker- living an extremely polluted country is a hazard any way. The Chinese government could release the actual data and take proactive measures to combat pollution. Their economy is currently expanding and due to this they should have the resources to effectively enforce regulations.

    2. What is a fine particle? what are the dangers of fine particles?

A fine particle is a minute particle created by the combustion that goes on within factories. Due to their small size, humans often inhale them, causing severe respiratory problems.

  22. what would be a reason for the Chinese government to manipulate and mask the results rather than publicize the hazardous pollution? what would be a reasonable action to lower the pollution?
    - I think that the Chinese govenrment would go out of there way to mask pollution results because It will hurt them in some way or another, and they will be forced to change there way of life. They like what they have, so they are not trying to make themselves look bad. A reasonable action that could be taken to lower the pollution, would simply to publicize it, and wait for people to make a change.

What is a fine particle? what are the dangers of fine particles?
-particles smaller than 10 microns qualify as fine particles. The dangers of fine particles include the toxic effect of breathing them.

  24. 1) I think that the Chinese government would do this so that the population wouldn't go into chaos and also so that they wouldn't have to spend any money to fix the problem, if none of the citizens know. Something that could be done to reduce the polution is to cut back on those things that pollute the air such as using cars an such.

2)They are particles that are smaller than 10 microns. They are dangerous because when they are breathed in they can cause several health problems.

  25. 1. The Chinese government most likely masks the fact that there is so much pollution present because they want to continue with production in plants which benefits them, and not spend money to attempt to fix the pollution which benefits them as well because if production was decreased in order to help the environment profits would go down and if money was spend to fix the problem of pollution they would lose money as well.
    2. Fine particles are hazardous particles that result from the combustion from things such as cars and power plants. These particles are able to enter the body and cause health problems.
