  1. 1. The new turbines create a smaller pressure change from before and after the turbine. This is fish friendly because pressure change, much like that experienced by divers, can be damaging to their internal organs, like their swim bladder, and kill them. Less significant pressure change will cause less harm.
    2. The new turbines are more energy efficient and powerful as well as less harmful to fish, thanks to research like this.

  2. 1)The smaller pressure the turbines exert on the fish means it is safer for them to swim through. the pressure exerted by modern dams is something like giving the fish the bends. their buoyancy sac can rupture and they can be in a very bad way
2)They are more energy efficient and have less of an environmental footprint

  3. The new turbines make for a less intense pressure change for fish when they travel through the turbines. This is fish-friendly because large pressure-changes can cause serious injuries and death in marine life. The new turbines will cause less of this to happen.

Because the technology today is better than it was 50 years ago, we will be able to make better turbines that not only are more fish friendly, but are more energy efficient, with larger yields, and less of an impact on the environment.

  4. The new turbines of small pressure means its a lot safer for fish to swim through things like dams because they don't suck them in and kill them. Which is a good thing.

Technology has advanced a lot in recent years and turbines have become much more energy efficient and much less fish killing.

  5. 1. These new turbines are now fish friendly because of how they have a smaller pressure, so that when the fish swim near, and past these turbines they don't experience injuries, etc. These turbines are better for marine life, because they keep the fish populations higher, by ensuring that the fish stay safe, and do not become injured or endangered from these turbines.

    2. These fish friendly turbines are better than the ones built years ago because they are more energy efficient and they have been tested to greater extents of how to help the fish. Along with this they see survival improvements. These turbines are a sustainable option, and they are also gaining power from these new turbines in comparison to the old ones.

  6. 1.) The new turbines are fish friendly because of the fact that it's much safer for fish to swim through. It reminds me of that scene in Finding Nemo couldn't swim through the filter in the tank and it would have cut him up. But now he'd be able to do it.

2.) Technology has advanced a lot recently, meaning that they all use less energy, and pollute less meaning less deaths for marine species.

  7. 1. The new turbines are friendly towards fish because there is small pressure so it is safer for fish to swim through things like dams, therefore the fish can pass by safely.

    2. The technology is better because they are more energy efficient they don't hurt the fishes. Whereas, 50 years ago they had more pressure so the fish got hurt more often.

  8. 1. The turbines are fish friendly because they produce quite less pressure and therefore release less. Therefore, when the fish swim by will not be hurt like they were in the past. The advantage of these turbines is that not only do the fish not get injured, but they allow the fish population to be maintained on a higher level as well as that the fish stay safe, therefore securing the fact that they will not become extinct or endangered.

    2. The new turbines are much better for the fish than the ones from 50+ years ago because they can store more energy as well as they are more energy efficient. Secondly, there have been numerous studies to ensure that the fish are safe as well as ways to help them, in which they are seeing survival improvements. Thirdly, the turbines are a sustainable option because they are more efficient and eco-friendly than the old turbines.

  9. 1. What makes these new turbines "fish friendly"? And explain how they are better for marine life.
The turbines are better for fish because they exert less pressure on the fish than are experienced by fish in current dams. Fluctuations in pressure can rupture a fish's swim bladder which shrinks under high pressure and expands rapidly when pressure decreases. This is better for marine life because there is a high fish mortality rate at present because of all the ruptured swim bladders which the improved turbines will hopefully be able to remedy.
    2. what differences makes these fish friendly turbines better than the ones built 50 years ago? The new turbines are being studied to ensure maximum fish safety and also display increased energy efficiency.

  10. 1. With the new turbines, the change of pressure before and after the fish pass through it is milder, and therefor will have less severe effects on their organs such as their swim bladder, which determines their buoyancy, and important feature in their lives that they depend on and can kill them if injured or ruptured. This impacts marine life because, if certain fish are dying off due to these turbines, they will most likely be the same kind of fish (because of the patterns of where they are traveling that interferes with the locations of the turbines), so they most likely have the same role in the ecosystem, and a complete collapse in these species of fish could have a large influence on the larger picture of the whole marine environment, so these new turbines will be able to prevent that from happening.

    2. These new turbines are better than the ones built 50 years ago because of the new technology and ideas available to us now that weren't back at that time. Now, researchers are able to gather research and run tests that allow them to create the idea of the most energy-efficient and eco-friendly model possible before actually implementing the structure, which can be very costly.

  11. 1. What makes these new turbines "fish friendly"? And explain how they are better for marine life.
These turbines are fish friendly because they produce less pressure and so also release less. Because of this, fish are no longer hurt when they swim by. The turbines are better for marine life because not only do they not hurt the fish, but they allow a bigger population to be maintained, meaning that there is no longer a risk of these fish becoming endangered or extinct.

    2. what differences makes these fish friendly turbines better than the ones built 50 years ago?
These turbines are better than the ones from 50 years ago because they are more energy efficient and can store more energy. In addition to this, the new turbines are sustainable because they are more efficient and eco-friendly than the ones from 50 years ago. Also, a lot of research has been done to ensure that the fish are safe and even being helped.

  12. 1. What makes these new turbines "fish friendly"? And explain how they are better for marine life.
The turbines can be deemed "fish friendly" because they allow for a lower pressure change from before and after the turbine. They are better for marine life because it allows for fish to not be killed and to have a larger population that can reproduce and increase the population size.

    2. What differences makes these fish friendly turbines better than the ones built 50 years ago?
%0 years ago, the turbines were not energy efficient, eco-friendly, and safe for the marine life. However today, the turbines have been manufactured to be used on an efficient source of energy and are safe for the marine life.

  13. 1) These turbines could be called "fish friendly" because they produce and release a lower amount of pressure. With this lower pressure fish are not hurt or killed when they swim by allowing them to survive, reproduce, and increase their population.

    2) 50 years ago the turbines were dangerous to marine life, weren't eco-friendly, and the turbines weren't energy sufficient. Now due to much research scientists have found a way to make the turbines used today completely the opposite from 50 years ago. They are no longer dangerous to marine life, they're eco-friendly, and are energy sufficient.

  18. 1. These new turbines are "fish friendly" by using less pressure when moving forward to make it safer for fish. They are better for marine life because it allows fish not to get hurt. Making it better for fish population because they are dying less from the turbines.

    2. Differences that make these fish friendly turbines better than the ones built 50 years ago are: being able to store more energy by using less of it, they don't hurt the fish from too much pressure, and cause less deaths of fish.

  19. 1. These new turbines will have a mild change in pressure which will help avoid injuries or fatalities due to sudden and dramatic pressure changes.

    2. The new turbines are more energy efficient and cause less fish to die.

  20. 1. The new turbines are fish friendly because they are created in a way in which the pressure changes that occur when fish are entering and exiting the turbines won't be as extreme as they once were. The pressure changes harmed the fish because their swim bladders would rupture after experiencing it. The fact that the turbines are being redesigned is better for marine life because it keeps fish species from decreasing and eventually becoming extinct; if that were to happen there would be repercussions on the environment as a whole because they play some role in the system as a whole.
    2. Compared to those made 50 years ago, the turbines today are better because new technology has allowed for there to be lower pressure changes as fish travel through them. The new turbines are also being designed in a manner in which they will be more energy efficient

  23. 1. These new turbines are "fish friendly" because they have less pressure, which lessens the pressure change between entering and exiting. Much like humans, dramatic pressure changes can cause physical harm to the fish, and ultimately kill them.

    2. These modern-day turbines differ from their 50 year old counterparts in that they are more energy efficient, and can store the energy they make to be used, and that they are more nature-friendly, with the pressure reduction for the fish.

  24. 1. What makes these new turbines "fish friendly"? And explain how they are better for marine life.
These new turbines are fish friendly because they have mild pressure changes. A drastic change in pressure from high pressure to low pressure can cause the bladder of the fish to contract and then expand to the point that it bursts. less drastic changes in pressure will help to prevent this.

    2. What differences makes these fish friendly turbines better than the ones built 50 years ago?
The trubines from 50 years ago were not only dangerous to fish, but they were also not as efficient as these new fish friendly turbines.

  25. 1. The fish turbines are considered fish friendly because they are less likely to cause as much damage or as many deaths to fish who swim through them as the old turbines. water pressure is extremely important for aquatic life, and by having the pressure change by less dangerous amounts, the animals will survive better.
    2. The new turbines are better than old turbines for a couples reasons. first off they are friendlier to aquatic life, and second, they are more efficient.

  26. 1. What makes these new turbines "fish friendly"? And explain how they are better for marine life.
The article falls tragically short of explaining the changes in the turbines, but the idea is that by decreasing the pressure gradient before and after the turbines or making it more gradual, fish that travel through the turbines will be less prone to decompression injury.

    2. what differences makes these fish friendly turbines better than the ones built 50 years ago?
Again... New design tools allow greater efficiency and decreased pressure difference, which is better for people, fish, and just about everyone.
