  1. 1. What are the leading contributors to pollution in China and what are some ways to help fix them?
the leading contributers to pollution in china as the article said are the nation’s pollution problems are caused by China developing at a speed and scale unprecedented in history, which has produced widespread environmental degradation that the central authorities have been slow to acknowledge. Aside from vehicle exhaust, thermal energy plants utilizing the nation’s poor grade coal power the country’s factories, providing the heat for hundreds of millions of homes even as they send toxins into the atmosphere. some ways to fix this problem of pollution in china would be as it said in the article: Beijing’s city government ordered 103 heavily polluting factories tosuspend production and told government departments and state-owned enterprises to reduce their use of cars by a third.

    2. What can the United States do to approach China to help them create less emissions?
well i think that the US can't really do much for china, but since the pollution has gone overboard, it has become a problem for the rest of the planet, since the conditions have become more unbearable for the people to live in. the US as well as the rest of the world could only advice much to use less of the industry and cars in order to at least make an impact on China. i would think that they could at least do that in order to help out with china's pollution problems.

  2. 1) the leading contibutors in china are car emissions in the city, smog from industrial factories, and all other human factors. China is workibg toward having more people travel by electic vehicle and move and clean factories.

    2) other than stick a gun to their head, not much. The US companes potentially coule clean up theis production in china, but we have no conrol over Chinese politic

  4. 1. Vehicle exhaust is a huge contributor to China's pollution. A way to fix this would be to create incentives for people to drive less (through carpooling, alternative public transports, etc.). Another contributor to pollution in China is combustion exhaust from coal plants (which are necessary for heating homes) all over China. A way to reduce the amount of pollution would be to filter the exhaust the plants produce.

    2. I personally don't think the US could do very much. Besides the US embassy's air tests (which prompted China to reevaluate their environmental impacts) the US doesn't really have very much influence in China. However, if this were not the case, and if the US so desired, it could offer incentives (financial or otherwise) to make China more willing to help the environment. The US could also give China advice for how to improve quality because the US has drastically reduced the CFCs in the air in the past 20 years or so. However, it isn't likely that any of this would work very well.

  5. 1. What are the leading contributors to pollution in china and what are some ways to help fix them?
The leading causes of pollution in China is their growing love affair with automobiles with not environmentally friendly, but cheap, fuel. With a large and growing population, even more people are using cars than years in the past. They also use cheap but inefficient and pollutant filled coal to fuel their many many power plants and factories.

    2. What can the US do to approach China to help them create less emissions?
Similar to the pushback felt by the US when they tested China's air, it is difficult to attempt to regulate a country that is not our own. I think that, similar to what we have done, presenting the data collected and associated dangers to the public is helpful because it puts pressure on the government to take action. The US however, cannot place mandatory regulations on China, just suggestions, like treaties or embargo their products produced in efficiently.

  6. 1) The leading contributors to pollution are cars and factories. A way to fix this would be to reduce the amount of cars that are used each and everyday and to find other ways to power factories instead of just using coal, which creates lots of emissions.

    2) I think a good way to approach China about their emissions is to show them ways that reducing the amount of emissions will not affect their economy and their populations' way of life. Also the U.S. should take this to a more international level and contact the United Nations or an organization like that to make this a global issue because the emissions are not only hurting China, but the emissions are beginning to hurt countries around them.

  7. 1. What are the leading contributors to pollution in China and what are some ways to help fix them?
    - With over 5 million cars utilizing china's infrastructure, and the use of thermal energy plants which produce toxins, What can be done to help solve some of the pollution problems is to regulate factory hours and drive schedules, along with providing better public transportation.

    2. What can the United States do to approach China to help them create less emissions?
    - The united states can continue to bring facts to the public and hope that the media will help to peruse the government which inst likely. It is impossible for the U.S. to tell china to do with out there consent or respect, so the move is ultimately up to China.

  8. 1. What are the leading contributors to pollution in china and what are some ways to help fix them?
The leading causes of pollution in China are their excessive use of cars that put out pollutants due to their enormous population, along with the large number of coal plants in the country.

    2. What can the US do to approach China to help them create less emissions?
I think that there is always large difficulty in persuading other countries to make such big changes. There isn't necessarily anything the US could do to China directly, but I think the best alternative is to serve as a role model for reducing pollutants, along with educating the public.

  9. 1. The main contributors of the pollution within China include the over reliance on cars, in which China has over five million and are very gas dependent. Also, the use of energy plants that yield extremely toxic chemicals as well as the fact that China is an emerging market in which they have large industry which pollute excessively. Also, the lack of regulation allows companies to pollute without consequence.

    2. Functionally, the United States cannot do much in the way of assisting China or making sure that they follow regulations. However, at the point where China's pollution is harming not only them, but seeping into the rest of the world and harming others, it becomes a global issue. At best, the United States could encourage China to mandate the implementation of regulation which could potentially help solve the issue. Much like the US, China could offer tax incentives to companies that adhere to certain regulations.

  10. 1. The leading contributors of pollution in china are transportation, factories, energy plants. Overall the lack of regulations have caused huge pollution problems.
    2. Idealistic, the United States cannot do much to stop China or enforce regulations. However, a good portion of their factory goods are sold to us, and if we do not buy from them then they may reconsider their regulations. But the best option is for the United States to encourage regulations.

  11. 1. What are the leading contributors to pollution in China and what are some ways to help fix them?

For China, the leading contributors to pollution include the use of automobiles that are run on very cheap fuel that is harmful to the surrounding environment. With such a large population, and one that is growing at an exponential scale, the only way for the pollution to be fix is to find a pollutant free or limited pollutant mode of transportation, such as bikes or public transportation.

    2. What can the United States do to approach China to help them create less emissions?
The United States are very limited on what they can do for approaching China about their pollution. The United States can only stand as strong advocates against pollution and hope that China will eventually see the wide scale dilemma of creating emissions.

  12. The greatest source of pollution in China comes mostly from the use of automobiles that use extremely crude fuel which has terrible emissions. The other cause is the industrial nature of the country, the massive amounts emissions from that are a factor as well.

The United States can try buying less products produced in china. The United States government can even raise import taxes on Chinese goods in order to promote this.

  13. 1.The leading contributors to pollution in China come mainly from the many automobiles using crude fuel causing many pollution problems and harmful chemicals to be released in the environment. To help fix this problem, they would have to make a transportation system that causes less pollution in the air.

    2. The United States can try to approach China to help them create less emissions by trying to change or advocate them to fix their pollution because the United States is limited with how to approach China's problems.

  14. 1. The leading contributors to pollution in China are car exhaust due to 5 million cars in Bejing, and even more in the rest of China. As well as this the pure speed and scale that China is developing at is causing pollution problems. Lastly factories utilizing coal let tons of toxins enter the atmosphere. Ways to help fix the pollution problem would be having heavily polluting factories suspend production, and to have cars use more efficient means of fuel, and exhaust release.

2.The United states can try to approach China to help them create less emissions by encouraging them to ensure that implementation of regulation occurs. Although there are no guarantees that this will do anything, seeing as how China's pollution is such an issue that it is rising to be a global problem the United states encouragements could potentially help to alleviate this issue.

  15. 1. What are the leading contributors to pollution in China and what are some ways to help fix them?

Car exhaust from the many cars, extraneous coal utilization throughout the country, and the immense industry all cause air pollution. China can cut down on its coal usage by investing in alternative energy sources and to make more car regulations.

    2. What can the United States do to approach China to help them create less emissions?

The US probably can't do much because we are in a bunch of debt to China.

There is not very much the United States can do to help China create less emissions. All the US can really do is advocate against pollution and try to show China the long term consequences of such huge emissions in the hopes that China will realize they need to fix it.

  17. 1. One of the leading contributors to pollution in China is the exhaust from all the cars that its large population drives. The major pollution is also due to the industrialization of China's economy and all the environmental degradation that it brings. Thermal energy plants use the nation's supply of coal to power its factories in order to heat homes. Solutions that have been proposed include heavily polluting factories suspending production, limiting the use of cars by government departments and state-owned enterprises, and planning on upgrading fuel quality. I think that the best solutions in the long term would be to increase and improve public transportation, and provide incentive for large factories to pollute less and use more environmentally-friendly fuel.

    2. The best option is probably just for the United States to openly advocate environmentally-friendly regulations and encourage China to take measures to reduce its pollution. We could also alter our relations with China by, for example, discouraging buying products from Chinese factories that pollute a significant amount and encouraging to buy products from its more eco-friendly plants (by changing prices or taxes to create incentive for the factories to change their emissions).

  19. 1. the leading contributions to pollution in china are exhaust from the different forms of transportation, the increased use of energy plants increasing the use of coal to heat homes, and more factories. Some solutions that have been proposed are shutting down factories, limiting the use of cars, and upgrading the fuel quality.

    2. The best thing that United States can do to help is to reenforce regulations put out by china that help to regulate the pollution. Also, we could change our trade relations with china, for example not importing as many factory made goods. If we don't import as many goods, they won't need to have as much factory production over in China.

  20. 1. Industrialization and 5 million cars.

    2. Help China develop greener ways to live that may also benefit U.S.

  21. 1. The main contributors to pollution in China is the exhaust from transportation and such, increased number of factories, more energy plants, and more people using coal to heat their homes. Solutions have been proposed such as making more regulations and alternative energy sources.
2.The US can help be encouraging the regulations and such. Overall though, there is not a ton that the US can do to help out China in this situation.

  22. The main contributors to the pollution in China are factories and car exhaust, because China had developed faster than any other, some solutions for this is to regulate factories, and when to drive, such as having driving days be every odd day.

The United States could help keep the regulations that should be imposed, without hurting their economy.

  23. 1. Automobiles are the main contributors to the pollution in China. By using alternative transportation such as the bus, bikes, walking, etc.

    2. The United States could propose regulations for every country to reduce their pollution and emissions. Also by reducing its emissions, the US would promote positive pollution change.

  24. 2. What can the United States do to approach China to help them create less emissions?

    1. China's population being one of the largest has an extensive need for vehicles, and this usage has increased car exhaust greatly impacting the air quality. Another factor is the pollution coming from industrial sources due to the high developing rate. Some of the solutions that are being tried are reducing the use of cars, which the government ordered some government and state people to do. The government also ordered some companies who were responsible for a large amount of pollution to suspend production for a period of time
    2. The problem seen by the pollution being created in China has been for a while now denied by the Chinese government because they wish to continue their industrial development. The fact that China's done this could cause conflict if the U.S. attempted to help create less emissions because when he U.S. began taking measurements of the air quality the government took this as interference. The U.S. could probably propose solutions, but I doubt that they would be adopted by the Chinese government

    2. What can the United States do to approach China to help them create less emissions?
Other than offer China advice on how to cut back on emissions, I don't think there is much that the United States can do because we are not being directly affected by pollution in China. At least not the way that Japan is being affected.

  26. 1. What are the leading contributors to pollution in China and what are some ways to help fix them?
Heavy, dense, dirty industry; dirty coal plants; increased motor vehicle ownership.

    2. What can the United States do to approach China to help them create less emissions?
The government and private sector have to work to provide clean energy alternatives. next, consumer pressure for green goods instead of cheap goods could go a long way in industry. Honestly, the number of cars and the models that are more common in China would not be a problem if the other issues were alleviated, although all nations should work towards transportation solutions.
